The Franklin Senior Center provides a variety of programs and services for individuals struggling with vision impairments. Perhaps of greatest note is the Senior Center’s Low Vision Assistive Technology Room, which houses the industry’s most advanced technology and equipment available to assist individuals experiencing vision loss.
Named after the Senior Center’s most strident advocate for low vision seniors, Stella Jeon, our low vision assistive technology center offers: text-to-speech computer software programs, touch-screen computer monitors, Zoomtext screen magnification software, Kurzwiel scanning software, iPads, color-scanners, desktop magnifiers, and portable / hand-held video magnifiers.
Additionally, the Franklin Senior Center offers a Support Group for blind and low vision seniors. This group meets monthly to offer discussion, guest speakers, and presentations on information available to assist and maintain the quality of daily living for visually impaired seniors. For more information call Maggie Gundersen at the Franklin Senior Center at 508 520-4945 to sign up.
