Instructions for Deck Permit

The following information/plans/documents are needed to process your deck  permit application more efficiently:

1)  A completed building application with all information filled in ( including license numbers, zoning district, assessors numbers and description of work).

2)  Two copies of a construction drawing of the deck including dimensions, a description of its construction, including: wood type, grade & species, rail height, footings, spans, rise & run of tread, ballasters, deck height and fasteners  (note existing deck if building an addition).

3)  Copies of installing contractor’s licenses and insurance (where applicable).  If homeowner is performing work themselves, Homeowner License Exemption form and Workers’s Comp. affidavit forms must be completed and signed.

4)  A wet stamped & signed surveyor’s plot plan showing the property and the location of the proposed deck from property lines and all buildings.  Following the completion of the work an “AS-BUILT”, also from a registered surveyor is required for the receipt of the occupancy permit.

5)  Inspections for decks are required for: Footings / SiteFinal
