The Franklin Recreation Department continues its youth basketball program in 2023-24 season. This program has provided enjoyment, participation, and memories for children for over 30 years. Boys & girls in grades K-8 can continue developing their skills and ensuring adequate, equal playing time based on our matrix participation system.  Coaches print their matrix based on the number of players that attend each game vs. the opponents number of players.  Schedules & times fluctuate weekly. Players in grades 3rd-8th will participate in our skill sessions (October 14th) to determine player’s abilities. Then a player draft will take place over the following weeks (Oct 24th week). Our goal is to make every team equal in skill, ability, and age.

Recreation Basketball NEWS

Playoff season begins on 3/2/24 for all 5th & 6th Grade Boys and 7th & 8th Grade Boys.  Brackets can be found below under their respective grade level.  Playoffs for 6th-8th Grade Girls will begin on 3/9/23, with the semi finals and finals being held for all of those leagues on the same 3/9 date.  No other grade levels will compete in playoff format.  Those other leagues will play out the season in regular season format.  Brackets will be updated each week to reflect teams that advance.  During playoff play, the higher seeded team will be considered the home team, thus wearing white jerseys and the lower seeded team will be considered visitors and wear dark/color jersey.  Please take a moment to check your schedule below.  Because we are using NBA reversible jerseys, one team will wear white and the other team will wear colors (red, blue, green, etc).  On the schedule, if your team is listed on the right, they will wear white.  If your team is listed on the left, they will wear color.  (Example:  1 vs. 5 means team 1 will wear color, team 5 will wear white.)  We mention this so players do not have to flip jerseys in the gym.  If necessary, use the restrooms to flip jerseys.  If there are any questions, don't hesitate to email us at:  franklinrecreation@franklinma.gov

The leagues listed below are for the 2023-24 season.  The highlighted league name is clickable with schedules and rosters attached.  Any questions, please call 508-613-1666 or email:  franklinrecreation@franklinma.gov
