Have a Leak or Blockage?

Who is responsible for my water service?

The homeowner is responsible for the water pipe/plumbing on private property, including the inside shut-off valve out to the outside curb valve (generally near the property line, but location can vary).  The Town is responsible for the outside curb valve and the remaining piping going from this valve to the water main.  The Town is also responsible for the actual meter and any reading equipment.  No person(s) other than an employee of the Town of Franklin may tamper with either the outside shut-off valve, the meter or the reading equipment, or be subject to a fine.

If you notice a sudden loss of water pressure, have no water at all, or notice a possible water leak please call 508-553-5500 immediately to report the problem.  If you are in need of water service line repair/replacement, please see our list attached of Licensed Drainlayers.

Who is responsible for my sewer service?

The property owner is responsible for the entire length of their sewer service from their house to the sewer main. Any manholes/clean outs that are along this private service are considered part of that private way and must be maintained by the property owner as well. If you are in need of a drain cleaning you can Google Plumbing – Drain & Waste Line Cleaning for some possible providers of this service. If you are in need of a sewer repair/replacement, please see our list attached of Licensed Drainlayers.
