The Town of Franklin provides this service to our community and the surrounding communities. Thank you for choosing the Town of Franklin for Passport services.

DS-11 applications are reviewed/accepted by appointment only for new (adult and minor) and renewal only for minors. Find downloadable forms along with travel warnings and more at the U.S. Department of State's Travel website. Forms are also available at the municipal building directly outside the passport office.

By appointment only, we accept and execute DS-11 Passport applications, take Passport Photos ($12 fee) and review only DS-82 Renewal applications.

Adult Renewals by Mail or online directly on the US Department of States website

Adults with a 10-year passport (either valid or expired less than 5 years) are required to self-renew (Form DS-82) by mail or online at travel.state.gov  instead of appearing in person.

Processing times

Processing times as of October 3, 2024:

  • Routine processing: 4 to 6 weeks
  • Expedited processing for an additional $60 fee: 2 to 3 weeks
  • Optional 1 to 2 Day return delivery service for Passport Book (not passport card) for an additional $22.05 fee as of June 28, 2024

Processing time estimate starts when the U.S. Department of State receives the application, not the day one applies at a passport acceptance facility.

Fees

Fees are only payable by check (personal, money order, or bank check).

  • The passport fee (amount varies) is payable to the U.S. Department of State.
  • The passport acceptance fee of $35 is payable to the Town of Franklin.
    A family or group with multiple applications can combine the fees to allow for two checks.

Need a passport in less than 2 weeks? Call the National Passport Information Center at 877-487-2778 Monday through Friday, 8 am to 10 pm, or Saturday and Sunday, 10 am to 3 pm. You may also visit Get My Passport Fast.
