Welcome to the Office of the Treasurer/Collector

The Treasurer's / Collector's office is responsible for the billing, collecting and investing of all monies due to the Town including but not limited to:

  • Real Estate tax
  • Personal Property tax
  • Motor Vehicle Excise tax
  • Utility bills
  • Parking ticket fines
  • Federal and State receipts
  • Town and School departmental receipts 

The goal is to achieve these responsibilities while providing the highest level of customer service and support to all of the Town's taxpayers as well as satisfy the legal requirements set forth in the Massachusetts General Laws and the Town's bylaws.

The Town of Franklin is on a quarterly Real Estate/Personal Property tax due date cycle. Real Estate & Personal Property dues dates are August 1*, November 1*, February 1* and May 1*. 

*If the due date falls on a weekend or holiday, the actual due date will be the next business day.

Payment Options

The Treasurer/Collector accepts payments for Real Estate, Personal Property, Motor Vehicle Excise and Utility bills. There are several options for residents to submit payments to the Town including:

  • U.S. mail
  • The white locked drop-box outside Town Hall
  • Drive through window
  • In-person at the Treasurer/Collector's Office
  • Online

Payments for other Town department's fees and services are available though those specific department website pages.

  • Disbursement of all vendor bill payments
  • Reconciliation of checks and bank accounts
  • Additional collection tools through Tax Title processing
  • Short and Long-term borrowing for debt
