Certification and Accreditation are voluntary processes that the Franklin Police Department has undertaken to adopt and implement the best practices in law enforcement into policy. The Franklin Police Department achieved Certification by the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission, Inc. in May 2021. Achieving Certification required the department to meet 159 mandatory professional standards set by the Commission.
The Franklin Police Department was awarded Accreditation through the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission, Inc. in October 2022. Accreditation requires the department to meet 257 mandatory standards set forth by the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission, Inc., and the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc.
