What happens after I apply?
The VA will make a decision regarding eligibility and notify you. If you are eligible, you will be assigned a Priority Group, which determines your co-pays for services.
You will also receive a phone call to set up your first VA Primary Care consult, which is the most important step in accessing benefits.
Please note that you can receive care from the VA in conjunction with your regular non-VA providers.
For more information about VA Priority Groups, visit VA Priority Groups

Important: Emergency Care at Non-VA Facilities
Once you are enrolled in VA Health Care, it is important to report all emergency care at non-VA facilities to the VA within 72 hours. The phone number is 844-724-7842. The VA may be able to help pay the hospital bill (a) if you are actively enrolled, and (b) if the incident is reported within the appropriate time frame. Visit Getting emergency care at non-VA facilities for more information.
