VA Pension and Survivor Benefits

Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC)

This often overlooked benefit provides monthly compensation to surviving spouses and minor children of Veterans who died in the line or duty or from a service-connected disability. There are additional eligibility categories (eg, Veteran was rated at 100% for 10 consecutive years, income-based parent DIC). For more information visit the About VA DIC for spouses, dependents, and parents webpage.

If you want to apply, contact the Veterans Services Office at 508-613-1315

VA Pension (Aid and Attendance)

Wartime Veterans and their surviving spouses may be eligible for a needs-based benefit known as VA Pension (also Survivor's Pension). If a Veteran or surviving spouse is financially eligible, this program will supplement their income to bring it up to the Maximum Allowable Pension rate. Aid and attendance is an extension of the VA Pension program, for qualifying wartime Veterans and surviving spouses who require a caregiver to help with activities of daily living. For more information please visit the VA Aid and Attendance benefits and Housebound allowance webpage.
