Senior Tax Work-Off Program

Applications for the 2026-FY27 program are available as of December 1, 2025. You must apply each year. You may visit the Franklin Senior Center to pick up an enrollment packet or download the necessary paperwork by clicking the links below. Applications are not mailed out and Tax Work-Off spaces are not reserved.

The Senior Tax Work-Off Program provides eligible senior with the opportunity to reduce their property taxes by working 100 hours in various town departments. Available positions are located throughout the town, including the Senior Center, the Municipal Building, Franklin Library, DPW, Recreation Department, and several schools. We aim to match participants with roles where they can thrive and make a meaningful contribution.

Effective January 1, 2023, the Franklin Town Council has approved an increased pay rate of $15 per hour for up to 100 hours per year. If you work the full 100 hours, you will receive a credit of up to $1,500 toward your next year's local real estate taxes. This is the maximum amount allowed by law.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be 60 year of age or older
  • Must be a Franklin resident
  • Must either own your home or be the primary beneficiary if the home is held in a trust

Applications are accepted year-round, but the program is limited to 100 positions per year. Once this limit is reached, a waitlist may be created, though we cannot guarantee a spot.
