The Clean Water Act (CWA) is the primary federal law governing water pollution in the United States - and today it turns 50!
As you celebrate the CWA 50th Anniversary today, remember...
- Approximately 71% of the Earth's surface is covered by water
- 97.5% of the Earth's water is salty or undrinkable
- 2.5% of that is freshwater - most unobtainable in ice and glaciers
- and 0.0072% of all water is located in rivers and freshwater lakes
